At 8:30 I left on a bike ride from Rickreall to Monmouth with Ruth and her daughter Sarah and her family. Today was Ruth's 60th birthday and she originally had wanted to climb Mary's Peak, but it's closed until October. Instead we decided to do this new bike ride. The bike trail followed Hwy 99 but was separated from it by a grassy area. It took us about an hour to travel a little over 6 miles with the kids.
When we got back I finished off the last of the ratatouille and a smash potato. Dad, Mark and I finished off the last of the pumpkin pie (with whipped cream).
After lunch I got a call from Matt and Summer asking if I wanted to go to Costco with them.
"Sure!" I said.
You can guess how many samples were out at 1pm. Lots. I forgot all my lofty goals from yesterday and ate all the samples that were offered me - except the sausage. I was super full after that and the large lunch.
On the way home Josh asked if the kids could come to our house. I said sure. The kids kind of watched Pokemon and played Marble Magic. When Matt and Summer came back to pick up the kids, Mark and I changed the channel to the Food Network and just stared at it for an hour. Rachel Ray was making waffles and Mark said, "That's what I want for dinnner." So, for dinner we had ham and cheese waffles, butter, maple syrup and an egg.
In retrospect, the first half of my day was great. Then, starting with the pumpkin pie it went downhill from there. Definitely a SAD afternoon and evening. I think that it might take a few skids and bumps before I'm really into this 6-week challenge. For that reason, I don't think I'm going to just do this for 6 weeks. I'll have to ponder what I want to do and then report back later.
