Hot-Pink Breakfast Smoothie (4 cups)
1 carton coconut water
½ a medium beet, peeled
¼ cup cashews
¼ cup chopped dates
2 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. hemp protein powder (optional)
12 frozen strawberries
It did have a pretty pink color!
For lunch I chose an old favorite that I call purple berry smoothie. I wanted to make 8 cups, rather than my usual 4-5 cups. Well, it lost something in the conversion. This picture is all the greens blended in the water. I think I got more greens than usual because the smoothie wasn't as purple this time. It was good, but not quite as tasty.
Purple Berry Smoothie (8 cups)
2 1/2 cups purified water
1/2 lb organic baby kale
1/4 lb organic baby spinach
2 bananas
2 cups frozen mixed berries
1 mango
1 gala apple
The dinner smoothie was my favorite. It was very refreshing. I almost added some agave to counteract the lemon, but the more I drank, the less I felt I needed more sweetness.
Spring Green Smoothie (4 cups)
1 carton coconut water
2 cups organic baby spinach
1 mini cucumber
1/2 avocado
1/6 yellow pepper
1 cup green seedless grapes
1/4 lemon (with peel)
1 cup frozen pineapple
I haven't felt hungry today. In fact I had a hard time finishing my last smoothie. I've had times of feeling bloated and a little uncomfortable, but it's mostly been a good experience so far. I went to Group Active this morning and had plenty of energy. My energy levels have been quite constant throughout the day. So far so good.
Looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kendra. How was your first day of green smoothie madness?
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures! That last smoothie (the Spring Green one) looks especially tasty. I completely agree with you about the Hot Pink smoothie. Too much vanilla. I don't mind how it tastes really, but Andrew took a sip and said it was gross. I hope you find a way to make it better.
ReplyDeleteFrankly, I'm feeling over the green smoothie madness. I would be fine having one smoothie a day but all day?--not really part of my testimony :). Just a day and a half left!
