The easy choices...

Andrew C. told Willow that she needed to start making the easy choices. Not the seemingly easy choices that lead to excesses and inactivity, but the choices that make our lives easier. The small choice to eat the healthier option, or the choice to get up and exercise first thing so you have the rest of your day to do everything else.

Last week I started going to the gym each morning at 8am and attending at least one fitness class.  I've now done this for eight mornings. This morning I planned to start with group ride and then take group power.  Just before the beginning of group ride I decided to instead run an errand that I had forgotten to do last night. After that it was easier to get involved in another project and miss group power too. Both choices seemed easier than a sweaty exercise class.

Then it somehow seemed easier to justify piecing all morning. The snack choices I made were not super bad, but they weren't the healthier choices (i.e. fresh fruits and veggies).

Because I had made what seemed to be the easier choices, I ended up making my life a little more complicated. Now it will be hard to fit in an exercise session today and I will need to just eat something light like a salad tonight to make up for all I ate this morning, rather than the dinner I'm fixing for everyone else. (My stomach feels so heavy I don't think I could eat more than something really light right now!)

My goal the rest of this week is to make the choices that make my life easier, not the choices that seem easier but end up complicating my life and eventually compromising my health.
