September First

September already! Where did the summer go? Today I started the Dr. Fuhrman 6-week challenge.

This morning I went to Group Active at the Courthouse for 1 hr. Then I came home and had a green smoothie with 2 cups kale, a banana, a peach, coconut milk, and a frozen combo of papaya, mango, pineapple and strawberries. I drank it while munching on a handful of raw pecans and almonds.

For lunch I was going to finish off the last of the ratatouille, but during lunchtime I was at Costco. I started mindlessly eating the samples and that set off some kind of trigger in me. The next thing I knew I was driving home, stuffing croissants in my face. I ate 3 of them before I pulled myself together. Somehow a pumpkin pie had snuck in my car and followed me home too. When I got home I had 2 piece (with whipped cream) before I stopped.

For dinner I was stuffed and just had a romaine salad with vidalia dressing.

Ok. So what can I learn from this. I'm not going to give up, but it's a little discouraging and disturbing that I would be so silly on my first day. One thing I need to do is not go shopping during lunch time without eating first. Another is to not eat samples at Costco. None of them are on the program, and they just excite my tastebuds for more of the same. Maybe the best thing is to do my Costco shopping early so there are no samples out. If for some reason there are, I can always just stop and tell myself "no".
